At Cousin Amanda's Wedding

Here we see baby Henry looking quite dapper in his little blue bow tie. This was at cousin Amanda’s wedding last weekend in Washington DC. Henry had a great trip. He was the best behaved out of all six of us who were in the mini van; Mom, Dad and the grandparents. Amanda is the one in white, cousin Lauren is the one in blue holding Henry and you might be able to make out Oma in the background.

Easter Is Approaching

The past few months have just flown by for our family. It seems like yesterday we were celebrating Henry’s first Christmas. As Easter is fast approaching, we wanted to send our love to our faithful friends and family and also our apologies for not being more diligent in keeping you updated with recent photographs. Henry has gone through many wonderful changes these past few months. Now we understand what people mean when they say they grow up so fast. It is bittersweet but we are enjoying every step of the way. Henry has mastered eating stage one “solid” foods, sitting up, rolling over and is on the verge of crawling. He is such a delight and it is nearly impossible for us to take our attention away from him. Last Sunday he was even singing in church! The sound of his laughter is the greatest gift. He is learning so much in such a short period of time!

In February, we took our first family vacation to Pittsburgh. The Lord blessed us with a safe trip and a wonderful time spent with our family. Henry got to meet his second cousins and great uncle for the first time. It was tough saying goodbye to the ones we loved. Henry has expressed his interest in seeing Pittsburgh in the summer, so hopefully we will get to visit again very soon.

The week after our vacation Henry was baptized at Community United Methodist Church where we were married. Henry rather enjoyed the water on his forehead but was not quite sure why he was not allowed to dip his feet in the bowl. Pastor Brad made a special mention during the ceremony of Henry’s middle name. (It took a few inquiries from our church before they believed us.) It was very amusing. Henry was a good boy and thoroughly enjoyed all the attention.

Thank you to all of our friends and family who were able to join us for the special celebration.
Henry wants to send his love and thanks to Jessica and Czerton for making the trip from NYC to participate in the ceremony. He understands how tired they must have been to make this last journey before settling into their new home.

We hope this update finds everyone doing well and staying happy. We send our blessings to you all.

P.S. Henry has six teeth. There are four teeth on the bottom, two on the top and 2 more on the way.

Christmas was a wonderful day for Henry and his parents. Henry received many wonderful gifts, including a shape sorter, toy cell phone, a choo choo with four modes, some Max Lucado books, CDs, a Ronald Reagan Onesie, a moose, and money for college. Henry enjoyed all of his gifts very much, but even more he enjoyed spending time with all his friends and family even though he was feeling a little under the weather. Thank you all so very much from our entire family.

The boy is sick

We are sad to say the Henry has come down with his first cold. He is coughing, and snotty, but just as cute as ever. We took him to the urgent care Sunday morning and the Doc in a Box assured us he was fine. His breathing was normal and they confirmed he is the cutest baby ever. So, we are all pretty happy about that but are watching Henry very closely in case anything changes.

Ok so Haven't made an update in a while, and I'm sorry. Henry is 4 months now and just as cute as ever ( I will post a picture soon ) Halloween was fun and crazy. Henry was cute as a pumkin in his jack o' lantern hat. Henry, his mom and dad enjoyed Thanksgiving at Aunt Vic's house. HD is so excited to see all the lights and sounds of the holidays. Hope to post more soon including those pictures I promised.

6 Weeks Old

OK I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while. Let me catch everyone up to speed. In the last 5 weeks there has been some crying, some eating, some sleeping, and lots of pooping. At bottom is a picture of the lad in a onesie we got in Richmond. We went up a few weeks back on our way to a funeral in Alexandria. Henry did great, better than his parents. If you have any questions please feel free to make a comment and I will answer shortly.

Yeah we are home. We are getting settled in. Our ride home was pretty uneventful (thank goodness), Vedette is pretty tired but we are still moving around getting situated. We hope to entertain all our friends soon (maybe tomorrow). Don't forget to call first.

We have a baby! Friday morning, Vedette and I increased the number in our family by one. Henry had a little trouble at first but soon was kicking and fussing with all the vigor of any new born. We have all enjoyed feeling the full range of emotions, rivaled only to that expressed by the world’s greatest Shakespearian actor, William Shatner. And speaking of Shatner, boy can our boy poop. He has regular bowel movements, so all the plumbing is working great. Everything else on the boy appears to be healthy and Vedette has been able to feed him a couple times on her own. Hopefully the doctor will let Vedette go home Sunday, otherwise we will be home Monday. Sorry about the delay on updating the posts but it looks like we picked a hospital without WiFi. Feel free to call any time during the day the next couple of weeks if you would like to come over and see Henry, we love to see all our friends (who bring food and do our chores.) If we don’t answer our phones we are all three probably catching up on our sleep. Here are his stats and one of many pictures taken.

OK, so tonight Vedette will call the hospital, like the doctor told her to, and if they have a room ready we will go in around 8:00. Then they give her some stuff and some other stuff happens and then, sometime tomorrow, we should have a baby. All the details were given to me, but all I hear is blah blah baby, blah blah patosin, blah blah you’re going to be a dad. Everyone keeps giving us stories and I really do not know what to expect. Some people have told me that the whole thing will take days. I know it won’t be something that we could take care of in the drive thru, but Vedette is the most amazing woman I know so I wouldn’t be surprised if labor is relatively quick (not holding my breath). Oh and I added a few photo’s from the shower on the flickr site, here is the link.

Sorry about the lack of daily updates. Things are getting pretty nuts. Looks like Henry is getting pretty comfortable in his one womb apartment and has no plans of moving. Later today Vedette and I are going to go to the doctor to have some tests run and maybe work up some eviction papers. However, now that all the major items have been taken care of we are using this time to enjoy some of the fun things we are getting. One of Vedette’s friends at work gave us a bunch of infant toys, that we are sure will be a big hit. I am already enjoying playing with some of them. One item was a stuffed “pat the bunny ™,” so then we had to go to the bookstore. We bought pat the bunny ™, Goodnight Moon, On the Day You Were Born, Mars Needs Moms!, and a couple others we liked. A few days ago I also picked up this stuffed monkey. I think his name is Spacey or it might be Monkey, but I am pretty sure it’s eventually going to be Patches.

Got the crib together as well as all the little things we think we will need to make Henry comfortable when he comes. Still have a couple things to place on the walls but as far as a room goes, it’s looking pretty close to done. Last month Vedette and I went to a couple of birthing classes. It was kind of like a Lamaze class, but there was more talking and less breathing. I think the most educational thing we saw was how unbelievably uncomfortable some of the women were. I know that pregnancy is not comfortable, but Vedette was one of the three women farthest along and she even commented on how one woman, who was only a few month into her pregnancy was just rude with discomfort. I tried to explain to my wife that not everyone is a selfless as she is, and that we need to extend these people extra patience. I think that maybe because Vedette has been so strong, I haven’t been as accommodating as I could be. It’s not easy for me to understand the physical and emotional changes that she has endured. But I did buy her one of those exercise balls to sit on. And she seemed pretty happy with that…
…Oh and we bought a new TV (1080p). I guess we have been so inundated with baby stuff we needed a break and figured if we didn’t buy it now we would not be able to later. Plus H.D. Keplar needs to have a HDTV.

We want to thank all that have given us so much. Not only in gifts, but also with the amount of love we have received from family and friends. He will not want for love or clothes under 12 months. Henry's room is shaping up (yes Henry D. Keplar) we are waiting on the crib then we will be just about finished. Today we will be touring the Hospital in Chesapeake, I hope to give you an update all about it tonight or tomorrow.

Vedette is going to get a shower !!!

OK, Vedette's shower is going to be more of a cookout then a shower. Its going to be Memorial weekend on Saturday May 26th @ 1:00 pm. It will be at the Gili sisters home in Va Bch. We will be having wieners (cause its a boy!) and other foods. If you would like to bring something please let my mother, Meaghann or Janel know.
We WILL NOT be playing any stupid baby shower games, but we will be judging the scavenger hunt items collected. It is all in good fun but there will be a top prize for who gets the most points (total 200pts). There is a complete list at the bottom right of this page. ;) This picture here is not our baby, its me (Eric) when I was just one month old. ;) if you would like to see the most current picture of our boy please check the post below. He is shaping up to be just as cute as his old man.

So, a couple of weeks ago Vedette and I returned from our trip from KC. We had a very nice time visiting Vedette’s friends in Kansas and Missouri. Eric returned to a new position at Canon as Contact Center Supervisor. On April 24 we got a new image of our bundle of joy and are happy to share it with you now.

Fat Tuesday...ULTRASOUND!!!

Boy oh boy, oh boy.... this morning we went downtown to get our ultrasound. It is time to think of some unique boys names. We are thrilled! The ultrasound tech was able to point out one normal sized leg, one smaller leg and a large peeper. We prayed for a healthy baby and are truly blessed to find out that all is well. Vedette is truly happy to unleash another Keplar man on the world.

Heartbeats

OK, so last week we heard the heart beat of our baby to be. It was quite strange but very exciting. Next week we will find out the sex and everyone is asking what we are hoping for. We both answer "healthy".
